Since 1988, The Last Straw has been inspiring homes and gardens with timeless décor, exceptional craftsmanship, and a passion for creativity.

What began as a small 750-square-foot storefront in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, founded by Roger and Julie Robertson, started with a simple vision: to create beautiful floral designs and offer unique pieces that bring joy to everyday living. As word spread and the business grew, so did the need for more space.

The next chapter led to a charming cottage on Main Street in Blowing Rock, where The Last Straw spent the next twelve years building lasting relationships with customers and becoming a beloved destination for seasonal décor, florals, and gifts.

In 2000, the Robertsons found a home that reflected their creativity and vision—a beautifully preserved historic church originally built in 1927. Located in the heart of downtown Blowing Rock, the 5,000-square-foot building continues to inspire everything we do today. Its unique architecture, character, and history provide the perfect backdrop for the collections and displays that have become synonymous with The Last Straw.

More than three decades later, The Last Straw remains a family-owned business dedicated to offering thoughtfully curated home décor, florals, outdoor furnishings, and seasonal collections. Alongside our talented team, we strive to create an inviting shopping experience built on exceptional customer service, quality products, and a genuine love for helping customers create beautiful spaces.
